Gubbio climbs the flank of Monte Ingino, through stone streets, squares suspended above the plain and medieval palaces. It is a town you cross on foot, slowly, and one that also tells its story at the table.
Our cooking comes from here: from the produce of this land, from the crescia flatbread, from the truffle of the woods around the town, from recipes Gubbio has always made.
Piazza Grande
The Palazzo dei Consoli
A few minutes from the Osteria are Piazza Grande and the Palazzo dei Consoli, built in the fourteenth century, which holds the Eugubine Tablets.
Seven bronze tablets inscribed in ancient Umbrian and in Latin, among the most important surviving records of the language of the ancient Umbrians.
Traditions
The Festa dei Ceri
On 15 May the town stops for the Festa dei Ceri, when three wooden pillars crowned with the statues of Sant'Ubaldo, San Giorgio and Sant'Antonio Abate are carried at a run up to the basilica on the mountain.
In winter the slopes of Monte Ingino carry the Christmas tree that Guinness World Records recognises as the largest in the world.
